Homology Medicines is seeking a Research Associate to aid in operational support for methods to characterize AAV vector products. The individual in this role will be a talented and motivated technician who will focus on the analysis of research/development-grade vector samples using multiple AAV-specific analytical methods. This is a largely laboratory-based position with a focus on providing analytical support for characterizing research-grade vectors.


  • Plans and executes AAV-specific characterization assays, including vector genome quantification by qPCR and ddPCR, viral capsid quantification by ELISA, protein analysis by SDS-Page gels, endotoxin testing, and additional assays as needed
  • Provides routine testing support to enable project progression
  • Generates, manages, evaluates, and maintains critical data in a highly organized manner
  • Assists with qualification of analytical procedures by generating data and assisting with reports
  • Identifies complex technical issues and implements solutions under supervision



  • BA/BS in Biological Sciences with 2+ years of relevant industrial experience or MS with 0-4 years of relevant experience
  • Experience working in Quality Control with understanding of GLP and GMP practices a plus
  • Hands-on experience with a variety of biochemical or molecular biology assays, such as ELISAs and qPCR, preferred
  • Adept at conducting routine testing and able to conduct limited troubleshooting of multiple methods
  • Able to effectively manage and prioritize multiple parallel laboratory activities is essential
  • Able to work effectively in a collaborative team environment where results are achieved through influence and the incorporation of multiple points of view
  • Familiarity of Electronic Lab Notebook (ELN) and Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) a plus
  • Independently motivated, detail oriented and good problem-solving ability
