  • Overview

    Homology is seeking a team-oriented individual who will be a critical member of the team.  The Manager, Contracts is a highly visible position that will engage with all functions within the company.  The individual will lead contract management activities, including drafting and negotiating contracts and working cross-functionally to implement processes and systems for managing the agreement execution process.  Reporting to the VP Intellectual Property, this individual will regularly work with legal language and transactional agreements, and will be expected to draft, review and negotiation of confidential disclosure agreements, clinical trial and vendor agreements.      

    Responsibilities

    • Drafting, reviewing, and assisting with the negotiation of CDAs, MSAs, MTSs, consulting agreements, clinical trial agreements, and research agreements
    • Collaborating with business functions to draft and negotiate a wide variety of contracts
    • Liaise with outside legal team, attorneys, compliance and other business functions to ensure that templates are in Compliance with legal requirements and best practices.
    • Management of contract template processes, including systematic reviews of templates and playbooks, and incorporation of best contracting practices and provisions
    • Establishing, educating and training individuals regarding contracts processes, policies and procedures, as needed
    • Remitting signature copies to sites via email and post, following up regularly, maintaining tracking of statuses of contracts, and filing fully executed copies internally and with CROs
    • Attending regular calls with CROs in order to provide status updates on contracts in process of execution
    • Maintain internal relationships and foster open communication across departments

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree and demonstrated experience working with legal documents or legal language.  JD perfered, but not required
    • 8-10 plus years of direct contract management experience preferably within a legal department in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry
    • Ability to interact and communicate effectively with individuals from multiple departments at all levels of the organization
    • Ability to negeotiate and draft contracts including but not limited to: manufacturing, clinical, regulatory and G&A departments
    • Excellent interpersonal, influencing and negotiation skills as well as excellent analytical and organizational, strong written and verbal communication skills
    • Ability to work successfully towards strict deadlines, as well as independently on multiple, simultaneous assignments
    • A demonstrated ability to lead change
    • Comfort in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, and high volume environment
    • Must be able to logically assess priorities and possess and be able to manage multiple timelines and projects at once
    • Some exposure to the field of clinical research preferred
